Abstract: PS2 activity, chlorophylls´ content, SOD and CAT activities decreased, and APX and GR activities increased in plants subjected to 3 or 4 weeks of chilling, but not in those subjected to 1 or 2 weeks of chilling. PS1 activity and carotenoids´ content was not much affected. The decrease in PS2 activity and chlorophylls´ content was more pronounced in inbreds compared to their hybrids; these differences increased with prolonged duration of chilling. The reverse was true for SOD activity, while changes in the parents-hybrids relationship in the activities of other three enzymes depended both on duration of chilling and on the maternal genotype of hybrid.
